ABOUT

Spencer Riche is the co-founder and Managing Partner of R2 Capital, bringing extensive experience in real estate investment, construction, and operations. His journey into the real estate industry began in 2013 while working as a pipe-fitter specializing in fire suppression systems on hydroelectric dams in Northern Manitoba. Aspiring for a more fulfilling and challenging career path, Spencer transitioned into entrepreneurship.

Driven by a passion for personal finance and entrepreneurship, Spencer invested extensively in self-guided education and mentorship programs. Recognizing the value of owning income-producing real estate, he began acquiring and renovating multi-family properties in Winnipeg. By personally managing and renovating these projects, he gained invaluable hands-on experience. Each year, he expanded his portfolio by using creative strategies to enhance property values, refinance the gains, and reinvest the capital into new opportunities, ultimately building a robust portfolio of rentals.

Spencer later advanced into the oil and gas industry, where he was approached by SA Energy to work on the Enbridge pipeline projects in Southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In this role, he managed teams of skilled tradespeople, enhancing his abilities in team management, project coordination, and understanding construction costs and timelines. His leadership contributed to large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects, including:

  • The Glass House – A $130 million development of 195-unit sky lofts located at 311 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, MB.

  • RBC Convention Centre Expansion – A $180 million enhancement of a premier event venue.

  • Manitoba Hydro's Bipole III Expansion – A monumental $4.9 billion infrastructure project.

  • SA Energy Group's Line 3 Replacement – A critical $4.3 billion pipeline project.

By 2017, the combination of his savings and rental income allowed Spencer to leave the trades entirely and focus on his real estate business full-time. He began collaborating with investors to undertake larger deals, leveraging his expertise in finding off-market opportunities, renovations, and implementing creative value-add strategies.

Spencer is also the co-founder and director of Sure Home Stays, a multinational tech-enabled short-term rental chain and property management company. His focus on cost control, maximizing return on investment, and developing strong management teams has been instrumental in the company's growth and success.

Spencer continues to leverage his extensive experience to drive R2 Capital's mission forward. At R2, he oversees operations, builds and manages various teams, and develops software to boost efficiency. Passionate about integrating technology into the business, he focuses on enhancing investments and propelling the company forward. By fostering partnerships and identifying opportunities, he delivers exceptional value to investors and stakeholders alike.
